The first adventure posted on this blog was a 10,000-mile journey around the country on a bus. 2011 and 2012 have these posts.
That was during a layoff and a job search in a bad economy.
When it didn't end, she gave herself a creative writing sabbatical year in Paris, where she wrote The Paris Writers Circle. She went on this adventure not knowing a soul in Paris nor a word of French. Winters are tough in Paris (not that cold, about 32 degrees F, but gray and gloomy), so she decided to try Barcelona and learn Spanish. Except the family she ended up living with spoke Catalan.
She reluctantly ended her expat writing life in Europe and returned to New York City. She lived in Brooklyn, amazed at how much concrete, brick, and razor wire that borough has. She soothed her aching eyes in Prospect Park -- see 2016 to 2019. There were other adventures in that time period: Fire Island, the Pennsy woods, back to France, and much more.
She now lives and writes in Rochester, NY, a small city full of creative people. The winters are cold, gray and gloomy but spring, summer and fall, and the presence of her family, make up for it.
More bonafides: She was a newspaper and corporate journalist, then a magna cum laude graduate of New York University’s creative writing and literature program.
She's been published by the literary magazine South Dakota Review and won first prize from Deadly Ink for a mystery short story.
